Suspended Animation
Suspended Animation is the process of reducing an organism’s metabolism to such a low rate that it can survive without food or water for very long periods. It is hoped that with the aid of new technologies, that humans too, will be able make use of this state to allow for things that are currently impossible eg:
- To allow a sort of “hybernation” so that currently incurable medical conditions may be treated in the future.
- To “sleep” through long space journeys.
