I first got interested in cryonics one afternoon after watching a show on the Discovery Channel about Cryonics. I had no idea anything like this even existed, however it made perfect sense to me and I immediately called the Cryonics Institue and Andy Zawacki answered the telephone. We must have talked for at least 2 hours and it was so encouraging to know this process really existed. I immediately understood that this was an organization I wanted to be associated with.
Within days I received information by mail and I cannot stress how important Andy was to the process of introducing me to this new technology. I had many talks with different groups but eventually I had one on one talks with Robert Ettinger and purchased several of his books. Fred and Linda Chamberlain who was president of Alcor in 1999 were also very supportive and instrumental in the final decision of me becoming a member of the Cryonics community.
For the past seven years I have done a lot of research on my own and with the help of others, continue this process. I have always been a believer in space travel and in fact I have been to many of the space shuttle launches and have even met some of the astronauts. I often tell people we have gone from the buggy and horses, locomotive, airplane, to landing spacecraft on Mars all within 100 years. I can only wonder what the next 100 years will bring. With the developments in nanotechnology, biology, space travel etc there is no doubt in my mind that we will one day conquer death, aging, and every disease known to mankind.
I am married to a wonderful woman who is a physical therapist. I am retired and still enjoying flying airplanes, skydiving, and just about every water sport known to man. I am a United States Marine veteran. In the late 1960s after my service I was a musician for 25 plus years and owned several recording studios in Nashville, TN and Alanta, GA. I have two daughters from a previous marriage.
My family does not agree with me about the prospect of being frozen however they try to be supportive. My wife does agree that she most likely will have the process done herself. This is why we have started the Cryonics Web site here in Hawaii so people will have someone to contact in the event of an emergency while on vacation here in the Islands or so people can just stop by and say hello. We hope to have meetings of interested residents here in Hawaii.

I am currently the Executive Officer of the Cryonics Association of Australasia. When I decided to attend the “Advances in Human Cryopreservation” conference in May 2007 I contacted Ron because he had kindly invited me stay with him if I was ever in Hawaii. It was a golden opportunity to break up the long flight from Sydney to Florida! As it turned out I stayed there on the way back from Florida as well and during the time I spent there Ron and I had plenty of time talk about Cryonics and Life Extension in general and we eventually decided to set up an Hawaiian support group for Cryonicists - loosely based on the organisation that existed in Australia.
One of the tools of the group was going to be a web site to help us spread the word but it has taken me some time to get around to to setting it up – lots of other issues and projects intervening. Now that the web site is actually up and going, we hope to build on the work done so far and hopefully attract some interested local people to get involved.
